COACHING FOR HIGHLY SENSITIVE PEOPLE

Are you a Highly Sensitive Person?

Take the assessment here.

What does it mean to be a Highly Sensitive Person?

HSP is the term coined by Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D. to describe individuals with Sensory Processing Sensitivity. This is a personality trait possessed by approximately 20% of the population across over 100 different species in the animal kingdom. Due to this trait, HSPSs experience sensory input with greater depth and intensity in response to various forms of stimuli – physical, mental, and emotional.

If you answered more than fourteen of the assessment questions as true of yourself, you are probably highly sensitive. If fewer questions are true of you, but extremely true, that might also justify calling you highly sensitive.

Highly Sensitive People are more prone to overstimulation and may feel like their sensitivity is working against them. This can have a profound impact on our health and sense of well-being. However, with the proper education, tools, and resources, we can leverage the unique abilities and awareness that our sensitivity offers us.

As a Highly Sensitive Person, you may experience:

  • Anxiety, chronic stress, and easy burnout when trying to accomplish tasks
  • Feeling misunderstood and alone within relationships which may cause you to isolate
  • Analysis paralysis due to perfectionism
  • Weak boundaries and the struggle to say “no”
  • Negative self-talk and sabotaging your own progress
  • Identity issues and limiting beliefs about the world and your place in it
  • Creative and emotional blockages
  • Fatigue, depression, physical tension, and emotional health problems
